History will inspire you at the Bullock Texas State History Museum. There are tons of Texas stories that are told through ever-changing artifacts, rare documents, photographs, and special exhibits. You can learn the story of La Belle—the ship that changed history—and also view the reassembled shipwreck itself. In addition, you will also experience 4D special effect films in the Texas Spirit Theater. The Museum Store offers distinctive gifts and the menu of the Story of Texas Café.
Museum hours for the Bullock Texas State History Museum are Monday trough Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm, and Sundays noon to 5 pm. The museum exhibitions are closed on Easter Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Day, and New Year’s Day. The IMA Theatre an Texas Spirit Theater are open during regular Museum hours and on select evenings and holidays.
The Bullock Texas State History Museum is named for the state’s 38th Lieutenant Governor, Bob Bullock. Bob Bullock is noted for championing the preservation and exhibition of Texas history and worked diligently to establish the museum that opened in 2001. Bullock had a political career that spanned nearly 40 years and he is credited as being the principal architect of modern Texas government.
