The annual Zilker Kite Festival is coming back to Austin, Texas this March 6th, 2016. What better way to kick off your spring in beautiful Zilker Park in central Austin. The ABC Zilker Kite Festival is FREE for everyone and benefits Communities in Schools of Centra Texas.
Some of the contests that will be running include the 50-yard dash that is open to children between the ages of 7 and 12 and the Most Unusual Kite contest where entries are judged on theme, construction and design. The judges will be looking for odd, striking or novel features and shapes.
Ziker Kite Festival is one of Austin’s best-known annual events. It is held on the first Sunday of March and acts as a kick-off to the hundreds of springtime events in Austin. Everyone is welcome to attend, you can even bring your pets along, too! Most folks come out just to see the spectacular sight of hundreds of kites in the sky and to enjoy a spring day in the park.
The festival is presented each year by the Exchange Club of Austin, an all-volunteer 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. Exchange is a group of people working to make America a better place to live through one national project, the Prevention of Child Abuse, and other community service projects.
